I'm Tim Stratton, Small business owner, Father of three, Municipal Finance Expert, Fiscal Conservative, and a candidate for Scottsdale City Council.  As I have traveled across our city talking with our neighbors, I hear a few basic concerns over and over:  We want a City Council that listens to residents’ voices and represents what's best for the city; we need to protect our beautiful desert preserve and vital open spaces; we want great roads, schools and other services without skyrocketing taxes; but most of all we want a livable city where we have access to best-in-class amenities, a city where we can safely and comfortably raise our families, where seniors can afford to remain in Scottsdale, and where our important tourism industry remains strong and where we remain a place where visitors want to come to relax and experience all Scottsdale has to offer.  I’ve served on Scottsdale Board of Zoning Adjustment, where I have had to make sometimes difficult decisions on upholding our zoning code and balancing property rights.  I’ve also served a six-year term on the Scottsdale Industrial Development Authority and served as Chairman of that body where I had the honor of assisting Scottsdale small businesses to grow and thrive.  Now I am asking for your vote for the honor to serve our residents as a member of the City Council.

In my final act on the Scottsdale IDA, I made the motion to double our efforts to support Scottsdale small businesses that, through no fault of their own were forced to shut down because of COVID restrictions. The IDA, under my leadership and that of my fellow board members, were able to provide a lifeline to Scottsdale small businesses in the form of $5000 grants that provided a much-needed lifeline to these businesses. This was government in action and was so important to keeping Scottsdale businesses afloat. It was very humbling and moving to hear the stories of these business owners, our neighbors, during their time of need. Our businesses are a vital part of Scottsdale and I am proud to be SCOTTSDALE FIRST.

Tim has served as a trusted advisor and counselor to the City of Scottsdale over the past decade:​

My municipal finance background is unmatched in this campaign.  I have personally worked with cities and towns on billions of dollars of bonds and municipal infrastructure projects to better our roads, public safety, water and sewer and parks and recreation in Arizona. Specifically in Scottsdale I have directly worked on structuring and bringing to market City of Scottsdale Bond transactions totaling in excess of one billion dollars ($1,000,000,000) over the last ten years, including financing improvements to West World, the TPC golf course, our city water and sewer systems, public safety projects, critical fire stations as well as improvements to the Scottsdale airport and preserve acquisition. No one running for Council has more direct experience in Scottsdale finance and economic development than I do. While others were looking for ways to say “no,” I was working to solve problems and keep the city fiscally healthy. Now I want to put all of this experience to work on City Council.
